Poverty and splendour

I came across this article on the late Billionaire Mai Deribe, and it sums up one of the crushing issues with Nigeria. In a recent discussion with a friend, i argued that one of my fears of moving back to Nigeria is not the abscence of basic comforts that is sure to follow but the numbness to poverty that is standard. I admit that i never noticed poverty in Nigeria until i moved abroad to live...now, it is ever so stark!

The title of that article should have been 'Stark Poverty In one Of The World's Richest Countries'.Howevever always remember that there was a certain Moshood Abiola who really tried to reach the masses with his wealth. There are many other positive-minded wealthy Nigerians, even if they are quiet about their activities.

I agree that in economic terms, we do make quite a bit of money but other than that, we are quite poor. Which makes the case for prudent and clever spending. Still i wish those positive minded wealthy individuals that i am yet to see, come out pretty soon! thanks for stopping by.,..
