The end of the sky!
I am absolutely FED up of the laziness of journalism on BRITISH TELEVISION. It is a load of TRIPE to watch. It is uneven, misleading and discriminatory! I have finally gotten sky to cancel my subscription after having to queue for 2hrs to an awful customer service in India. watching yesterday's tripe on newsnight (jews in Iran...never in my life had i seen such %"@^**** before) and five's news just now (before noon) has assured me that i have done the right thing however stressful it was to cancel my service. Television in this country is hideously racist, ludicrously lazy and annoyingly unfair. Painting Jews to be poor deprived people kicked out by a satanic Iran and on this morning's news....painting potential gang bangers to be black, latino or asian and the do-gooders trying to help white old men (does the script get any cornier?), the audacity of it!
I have made up my mind to avoid as much of it as possible by not watching it. I will do more reading, listen to music and perhaps more radio which incidentally is an avenue of more productive journalism. I think the people of this country are receiving a disservice from the media (especially the BEEB of which WE are all paying for it) and should speak out against this nonesense if trully want to end the societies ills, one of which is racism. Yeah right!

I often turn to BBC hoping to find some objectivity in the news that is dispensed. Looking for that here, in the USA, would be futile. Responsible and objective journalism is now a thing of the past I guess!
I think you doth protest too much. IF the BBC portrays Jews in to be poor and deprived, and it is actually true, what wrong have they done? Jews, who used to be scatterd all over the Middle East have more or less disappeared from Muslim countries in the region. You haven't explained what was so wrong about the progamme. What news item painted potential gang bangers as ethnic minorities?
And you think you'll get more balanced news coverage in rint media, good luck. This country has some of the most vibrant prit media precisely because nothing is straight down the line. Opinions and viewpoints make the news punchy, rather than drab and derivative.
Besides, you should probably write to the Beeb, and Ofcom to complain.

@ Nkem, sorry for not going into detail, i was just livid at the time and all desire was to vent. If you noticed, i decided my options were to listen to more radio (ref: radio 4) as i buy your argument about the news papers. The news item ref:ethnic minority gang bangers was on five on friday i think but the Iranian one was on newsnight which i found particularly dissapointing. I suggest you watch thursday night's programme and see what you think!My bone of contention being the slant of the programme towards branding Iran as the evil satan driving poor jews out of the middle east. Whilst this might be happening, it is easy to ignore Isreali bullying in the same region. There are a lot of people who haven't got two brain cells to rub together and depend on tv for information...solely. These are the sort of programmes that lead people the wrong way. That i believe is the most dangerous enemies of this society.
